1 Introduction

OwnSona is a single-user, self-hosted memory server. It stores durable facts about you in a PostgreSQL database and exposes them over the Model Context Protocol (MCP) so that any MCP-capable large-language-model client — Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), Grok (xAI), and an ever-growing list of others — can read from and write to the same store.

The name is a contraction of own persona. The store is your persona, the part of yourself you teach once and never have to teach again.
